«Leben wie ein Baum, einzeln und frei, und brüderlich wie ein Wald, das ist unsere Sehnsucht.»
Nâzım Hikmet (Ran) (1902-1963).
The name of the video work comes from Nazim Hikmet's poem "Invitation". In his poem, Nazim demands that all people should be free and equal individuals, subject to no one. He emphasizes social equality and fraternal life and expresses his longing for it.
The depiction of the forest is an invitation to freedom, equality, fraternal coexistence and sharing. Based on this idea, I tried to interpret the forest in the video work imaginatively. In the video we see people who live in Schmalkaden and approach the forest from different angles.
