"More Than Human", Exhibiton view, Osaka (JP)
The exhibition brings together two worlds of the human being, imaginary and physical. Between fictional and real characters, an alternative field of thought is allocated to today’s political and social conditions.
Based on the references and requirements of being human, “More than Human’ presents a secondary world to the viewer in the form of a visual diary through fantastic characters to the problematic points around us. In this context, the artist connects the situations with her own artistic understanding by feeding on different points from the play world from his childhood to the artist’s own imaginary journey and current horrifying events.
“More Than Human” intends to take us on an inner, phantasmagorical journey through the human, sensitive emotions. The turkish-born artist tries to reinterpret handicraft techniques with a contemporary art approach, drawing on traditional and ancient arts. By using fabric dyeing, kintsugi, traditional embroidery and carpet techniques, she brings a new perspective between the old and the new in both visual and technical terms.
